Biography
Formed in 1982, ADX is one of the unmissable hero of French Heavy Metal. Signed on cult label Devil's Records in 1985, their first album "Execution" feature these 4 tracks : "Deesse du crime", "L'etranger", "Le fleau de Dieu" and "Caligula" now known to be undoubtly all-time French Heavy Metal classics.
Second album in 1986, 'La Terreur' on new label Sydney Productions. This new masterpiece will even feature #5 on annual ENFER MAGAZINE (absolute cultish French Heavy Metal magazine) poll, before bands such as ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, SLAYER or HELLOWEEN. French Metal has found its leading hero !
Third album 'Suprematie' is recorded during 6 weeks in August 1987 and will lead to the historical live album 'Execution Publique' released in 1988.
After numerous live dates in festival, sharing the stage with SACRED REICH, AGRESSOR, CORONER, SODOM, RISK or RAGE, ADX questions itself : What to do now ? With which label to sign ? Do we have to sing in English ? Finally, the band signs with worldwidely know label NOISE RECORDS and release their new album 'Weird Visions' in 1991, the first one entirely sung in English. Sadly, the sales figures are very disapointing and the NOISE RECORDS deal broke up
Exhausted after 10 years of neverending recording/touring stuff, ADX decides to split up in 1992.
In 1998, French label METAL 13 repress the mythical 'Execution' in CD format. To celebrate this event, the band members reunite for an unique live sold out appearance in Paris'Locomotive concert hall before a crowd that yells all the album lyrics by heart ! A new album will be recorded 'Resurrection', without founding member Betov, and nothing will follow up. ADX is gone into sleep again...
In 1999, a Swiss fan known as Merlin launches a tribute website followed by a web-forum in 2003 to reclaim ADX reformation. Betov will be the first one to answer to ever-demanding fans on the forum and a reunion might have comed this moment but since founding member Marquis didn't believe in the band's return, nothing really followed up. Demands from the fans grew huge along the years, from first-time addicts who were dying to see their idols on stage again to new ones who never had this chance !
In February 2006, the miracle happens, ADX is back on the tracks with Betov, Dog and Phil completed by Klod and BY, new members in the lineup, but playing in the Metal scene from ages in bands such as WITCHES or DER KAIZER. After a reunion tour all over France ending up into a historical sold out show in Paris'Locomotive in January 2007, celebrating the band's 25th anniversary, time is now come to work on the next album. ADX inks a multi-album deal with legendary French label BERNETT RECORDS who had bands such as METALLICA, VENOM or EXODUS in his roster during the 80's. 'Division Blindee' sees the light in May 2008. Recorded in Walnut Groove Studios, this album is the true witness of the extraordinary vitality of an essential band for the French scene. The new lineup is strong as it has never been ! 'Division Blindee' come back to the deep traditionnal roots of sharp melodic European Speed Metal. The ADX touch is there, unmissable, intact !
Nothing was spared to ADX during all these years, and after all, they only had to count on themselves to exist. Hero writes their own legend, and heroes are here to stay !
